Yeah! Good for you! Those people have no idea do they?!So sorry about the lose of your beloved appy, you must have a big hole in your heart, missing him. I'd go and get another horse when you have the funds and time etc.In 5 years down the road you are not too old for goodness sake!Riding keeps us in shape and young.This is what we love to do.Life is too short ...do what you enjoy.My two year battle with cancer taught me that Life is not a dress rehearsal....live now!

Jackie;

Don't knock it! I'm also fifty-something and started riding dressage a couple of years ago. I am feeling frustrated now as I recently lost my horse and am not in a position to purchase another one yet. On top of that there are certain people in my life who (for different reasons) are discouraging me from getting another horse. One of them is that I am getting too old and won't be riding in 5 years time anyways. This really ticked me off!
Even though I still go riding quite often now, it's just not the same as having your own and I do so miss my dressage training (still novice level, but I had real goals for me and my Appy). So all the power to those of us over fifty who still love to ride ans who cares about what those other people think!

April.
