"Why not" nudge that stall door and see if the "maid" forgot to latch it…

Are horses bold? What is the difference between bold and bolt? I think my horses, when frightened, bolt with boldness.
When I picture a bold horse a cross country eventing horse comes to mind. They bound over huge jumps and gallop off. How did they become bold?
What bold horses do you know? What makes t…

This painting seemed like the perfect illustration for the Oscar Wilde quote: "Experience is one thing you can't get for nothing." That quote applies to humans and horses!

"The soul that sees beauty may sometimes walk alone." This Johann Wolfgang von Goethe quote is one with which I, as an artist, can really relate. Every artist whose sets out to paint something beautiful needs to take their own path. And the results are not always what others consider beautiful.
Here's…

Forward movement, in equestrian lingo, is something to strive for.
Forward movement, in mental thoughts, .... something to think about.
What do you think about this Henry David Thoreau quote, "Never look back unless you are planning to go that way."…

This Friesian, Ares, seemed like a fairy tale horse, with his beautiful flowing mane and tail and dreamy movement. And in this painting, he seems to delicately step through a pastel fantasy world. That's why I paired it with a quote from Lewis Carroll, who is best known for his fantasy writing of "Alice…

Contemplation, sometimes a good thing, sometimes a bad thing.
Will Roger's quote, "Don't let yesterday use up too much of today," is a good one for those of us who sometimes let our minds dwell on the past.
If that's the case for you - or someone you know - feel free to click on the link below and print…

This week's quote/painting combo has my only painting with a cat! It's accompanied by an all too true quote from Will Rogers, "Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier 'n puttin' it back in."
That goes for puttin' cats back in those little pet carriers too!…

Do you agree with Theodore Roosevelt's quote, "Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing."
Once I read a report of a worker who volunteered at a nonprofit organization who lamented over the fact that his day job was mundane…

This painting is of Nanning, a Friesian stallion with such stature, he stands out in a crowd -- even a crowd of Friesians!
Friesians seem to be such willing horses, always willing to do the right thing. Not all horses are like that (and probably not all Friesians are really like t…

This week's quote from Will Rogers: "Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there." makes me think of a time when I got run over.
My horses ran over me once -- of course it was my fault. I was desensitizing them to an umbrella. They were all at on…

Will Rogers got it right in this quote, "Do the best you can, and don't take life too serious." Sometimes we forget to take time to enjoy life.
I couldn't be taking life too seriously when I chose to paint this picture of horse rumps, or when I named it "Butts and Bows" -- after…

Watching a mare and foal running together is so fun! It's amazing how the little one can keep up with his or her galloping mother when only days old. The mare seems to encourage her youngster to stretch his/her legs and race through their new world. In this painting, a bay Andalus…
