The Importance of Stretching

We spend hours and hours in training our horses to develop them physically or to perfect a certain maneuver, but how many of us take 5-10 minutes after the cool down to stretch out our horse's muscles? My guess is not enough!

Stretching is very important for maintaining maximum mobility and suppleness in muscles. When your horse's muscles are still warm from a work-out, taking a few minutes to stretch out those muscles will help to alleviate any tension that may have developed during training o… Continue

Maintenance Massage

Most people will think of calling a massage therapist when their horse has a major problem. While massage is a wonderful treatment for many strains and injuries, what about the times in between when the horse appears fine? Your horse doesn't need to have an obvious existing problem in order to benefit from massage. In fact, the most effective use of massage therapy is actually applied in a maintenance program.

Though all horses can benefit from massage, it is those which are subjected to high s… Continue

Hi Sharon, I had a better year this year. I am at the point that I need to get a different job that allows me to spend more time on my massage business. The aromatherapy is interesting and I am adding it to my massage a little. It is mostly for my dogs right now.

Hi there,
Thanks for your comment. Would love to keep in touch, I'm very intruiged with any for of natural healing, massage etc. And am learning every day. I was wondering, have you heard of Micro current treatment?? I have seen and learned about that from closeby, and I'm absolutely amazed with the results that I have seen. I was just curious if you have heard of it, or if you use it yourself in your treatments.

Well, I just wanted to say hello,

Bye for now,

Anneke

Hi Sharon,
Yes the session did deal more with "creating yourself" in terms of discovering how we all have individual strengths that open doors of business opportunity. And, of course, the group discussion hopefully led people to
1. Realize how painless networking can be. 2. Help people think laterally and creatively about how they can build their businesses.

Now that you are a Barnmice member, play with ways to network on line. As a little exercise, I would suggest that you find ways to participate in the community, adding your voice as an equine massage therapist. You can comment on members' photos that you like, join the OEF and other groups that interest you, add a blog post or comment on others, add some photos and videos, start discussions and participate in discussions that are already underway. In other words, put yourself out there and let people get to know you!

Hi Sharon,
Yes, either we ran short of time or I ran long on talking!! I did want to get into how to use the Internet as a networking tool, parallel to your efforts in the bricks and mortar world. I also wanted to talk about simple ways to create and support your own individual brand, but I think I would have needed a whole extra hour for that!
