I always get a horses teeth checked before I ever put in a bit, so if there is a problem, its sorted before he can associate the bit with pain. My Equine Dentist recommends having a yearling's mouth checked, to make sure there are no developmental a…

I have a pure-bred Connemara mare. She measured in at 147 cms at age 5, and 147.5cms at age 8. Her pure bred sons all went to 15 hands by age 6, and didn't look mature until 8. I always think Connemaras and Irish Drafts, and their crosses, are very…

Hello!

Using "Google" for more information about our stallion Carraig Thunder, I've found your page on Barnmice. Just to let you know that the stallion (nickname Jack) is in Holland now. He performs very well in (eventing) sports.

Best regards

Hi Kathy,
I just saw your post on my wall from months ago! Thanks for sharing your mare's story, it is great people take an interest in keeping bloodlines alive and breeding quality ponies. I just have the one mare, my half-bred is a gelding. I don't expect to try to breed her again, as she has trouble conceiving and the cost of vet care to help is prohibitive. Her grandsire is Grange Finn Sparrow, who I believe showed in Ireland before moving to the US.
Although I am out of the breeding scene, I still plan on promoting the breed and remain involved in the Canadian Connemara Society, as I think they are wonderful ponies.

Love those connemara pictures! What a lovely mare. I have a half-bred and purebred. At one time was going to breed them here in Canada, but it became economically unfeasible. Anyway, I love the breed and am active in the newly formed Canadian Connemara Pony Society.
