First Show of The Season

Today - June 8th 2008 - we had our first show of the season. Although the turn out could have been a bit better we went on with a great day. I took my two horses out to the show ring. This was Sky's very first show and Love is a great show horse and I took her Western in this show as well as English.

I'm so sorry I have'nt replied to your message. I had completely forgotten about joining the Barn Mice community

No, I don't ride Saddleseat. Initially I was going to use Hunter for endurance riding. He is naturally gaited, has a huge and fast stride at the trot and his canter is very comfortable.
Unfortunatly my health won't allow me to ride the distances required. So now we are in training for dressage and he is awesome. Next summer I'll also start jumping with him. I think he likes jumping as he would rather jump over something rather than walk around it.

Do you have a saddlebred? What kind of riding do you do?

You're very lucky to have two horses that are so beautiful. Give them a treat for me. Carol

Yes, my horse's name is Tilt-a-Whirl and I bred his mother, another spotted saddlebred, to Monaco about six years ago. Tilt was born in May of 2003 in Lexington. I hope that you enjoyed the Tattersalls sale. We are having beautiful weather here this time of year, so hopefully, you were able to get out and about during your visit. Do you take riding lessons in Canada?

I'm in school too, trying to get through an insane amount of work that just never seems to end! Haven't had a chance to ride in a while since I'm away at school. Hopefully I'll go home soon though and have a chance to get back in the saddle :) I'm still a beginner rider so it's really exciting to learn new things. I'm having a bit of trouble keeping my balance while posting, any tips?

wow, sorry for this insanely late reply, I've been absolutely swamped with work.... I luckily have no allergies (or at least nothing unbearable) so I plan on having lots of pets when I live on my own (or maybe just lots of dogs)...a friend in my building is house-sitting a baby kitten for the week and I just spent hours playing with it..... soooo cute!!! might not get along with your rat though :) How's your year going so far? Are you in school or what are you up to?

Hi Hilary!
My name's Liz and I stumbled across your barnmice profile. I use to ride American Saddlebreds before I went off to Queen's University. My sister and I rode with the Nighswander's for several years when they used to be in Stouffville. My sister leased Unforgettable Love for 2 years. How’s Gloria? Jim? We used to both show with them. I’d love to hear how they are!
