I agree...he really should have been practicing at Belmont instead of ringing the bell at the New York Stock Exchange...he did not know the track at all....I was at the Derby and was lucky enough to get a rose from his blanket....an incredible story…

He had no choice...he was already commited with a contract to ride RA if they entered her...if he declined the ride, he would have lost her permanently. He had a relationship with RA LONG before MTB came along!

Marrying Lisa would certainly make Suzanne and Mike (her parents) very happy..though as far as they are concerned, they refer to Calvin as their son in law already!

He should be getting the best rides he can. No one stays hot forever, so why not capitalize on his hard-won fame? I do empathize with Wooley though. Interesting to see who they'll go for. What do you think?

How do you feel about this? Given Calvin's status as the hottest jock on American tracks right now, and his close ties with Mother Goose record-setter and Preakness winner, the mighty mare, Rachel Alexandra, should his priority be making the most of…

Profile Information

About Me:
I am a 2009 American Horse Publications finalist in features writing and my articles and photography are regularly published in regional and national equestrian publications. I also helped managed Equestrian Media for the 1996 Olympics and created the equestrian sports trivia displayed worldwide on the Georgia International Horse Park's scoreboard during dressage, show jumping, and stadium phases, and had the pleasure of serving as the voice for America's only 8-time Olympian - in any sport - J. Michael Plumb, when he headed Mike Plumb's Horse Journal. At the start of the 'dot-com' era I was also the first features writer, and later Western Content director, for EquiSearch.com (back when the website was featured in the movie, The Horse Whisperer, in fact most of the horsey stuff used to decorate the bedroom of Pilgrim's teenage rider came from the private collections of my friends/EquiSearch's founders). In the late 1980s I lived in Saratoga Springs, NY and worked with a cable TV company developing 2-5 minute video features on its racing communities, including a segment on Standardbred pacing world record holder, Niatross (having seen his sire, Albatross, race at 'Toga in the early 1970s w/ Stanley Dancer at the reins). For the last decade I have been a freelance photojournalist and events manager, receiving the 2003 Outstanding Achievement Award from the Northeast Reining Horse Assn. for successfully making their NE Classic & Derby on of the NRHA's Top 50 Events of the Year. My riding background ranges from dressage to reining, what folks today call endurance riding is what I called, growing up, simply going out for a trail ride, and in addition to being the only female sportswriter in Massachusetts accredited with both the National Sportscasters Assoc. and Int'l Alliance of Equestrian Journalists I am also one of the rare few to also have a zoological background, having served in Marketing/Development with Zoo New England and the Zoo in Forest Park. I am as adept discussing the SSPs of Przewalski Horses as the bloodlines of performance horses, have consulted on equestrian collectibles, and both write about and represent several noteworthy equestrian artists. When you say "Horse," I've done it all.
