Oh my god, that is so funny!! I'm guilty of the backyard rider syndrome(as a kid), when I rode, it was with barefeet, daisy dukes and bareback. I can explain, I lived by a river and we took our horses swimming! Also, I always let the fences go and...

I ride hunters but I am not slightly anorexic. The part about the ladder and spurs made me laugh...I can't relate to that for sure. Where is the description for the Jumper? I think they are a different breed as well.

I fall "in character" of the hunter.

So true about the backyard riders. Been there. But it also seems to be true of managers of barns, so much to do and not enough time to ride.

Hello fellow Michigander! I have found a few of us on Barnmice but the majority are from Canada. I live in DeWitt, near Lansing.
Cash is my joy and passion in life now that the kids are all out of the nest for quite a while now. Five years ago I got back into horses after being out of the horse world totally for many many years. I try to ride western, enjoy doing groundwork and just plan love being around horses. I've been like a sponge trying to make up for lost time. The Parelli home study courses have been beneficial to me and my horse. I boarded at a training barn for over 3 years and was able to spend many hours a week (actually many hours most days) riding and watching the two trainers which was great for helping me gather some good horse knowledge I left a year ago to get Cash 3.5 miles from home rather then 35 miles each way. It's been a huge adjustment going from a very active barn to a smaller more casual barn.
If you are over 40, The 'Over 40 Group' is pretty active and fun.
What a beautiful place and great horse in your pictures. .
Who or what drew you to BarnMice?
I'm sure you will enjoy...It's my favorite by far.
Looking forward to hearing what your equine world is like.
