Wow that sounds very exciting and scarey at the same time. I'd be a basket case if my gelding was stuck in an evacuated fire zone!
A few years ago when the big Kelowna fire was raging I got a call from a frantic friend whose horse was boarded on a farm across Mission Creek. Rescuers had gone in to the farm to take all the horses off but her horse would not load in the trailer...
In the September 2009 issue of Pacific & Prairie Horse Journal we published an article telling tales of some amazing fire rescues that saved the lives of stranded horses and livestock.
