Yes indeed...every day! ER was 17.2 and very well balanced horse. I did not like it, but I learned soon that he would never flip. I can't sit a buck to save my life and moments after that photo I got dumped royally from the big, bouncy warmblood b...

Re the bank account instead of a horse -- saw a bumper sticker that read "My horse ate my paycheque"! I can relate. I too have a (small) bank account now instead of a horse, though the rescue cats are close to wiping out my income too.
But I do peruse the websites featuring Canadian horses for sale (I keep looking for the most likely dressage prospect among them, even though I know I can't buy) and spend much time fantasizing...Meanwhile the Morgan and I do our best, and I hope to take him to a dressage schooling show next year.

Hey Dorita, I like your new name but I think I will still think of you as Kozak, hope that is okay? Are you judging the Nov show at RCRA? Are you interesting in doing some
shows for us next season? Keep Well

It would be great to hear from Barnmice visitors about their favorite ever horse, and why. Doesn't have to be your own horse. So, write a paragraph.

That was a Hannoverian gelding I used to own Dorita. He was a lovely boy! The picture was taken in our sand ring at Caydon Farm.

Oh, I dunno. Lorraine DanielovitchhyphenMacdonald has a certain, uh, ring to it! We have come far in terms of tolerance. Anyway, I don't use the hyphen: it's too hoity toity. But I like names that carry something forward from the past, the way men sometimes are called by their mothers' maiden names: Taylor Caldwell, Hunter Thompson, etc. Cool.

I need a picture for my page. The only one I have on file is of Odin, and you know that story already. Happy riding! D.

Ms. Peer-Kozak, I was formerly "Daniels". My father changed his name from Danielovitch--yes pure Ukrainian. In the 30's amd 40's foreigners had a hard time getting jobs so many changed their names --I should have been Lorraine Danielovitch-MacDonald. What do you think? L

My very old pony colicked about 2 years ago. While he seemed to be just fine, I have always kept a close eye on him. Because of his age, I give him 'soup' for his meal and I do add oil. Every horse is different of course and while one may only col...

slc2 replied to Linda White's discussion 'Colic' in the group Over 50 crowd
Well, I feel that every colic is different. Ask your vet for suggestions as to why the colic occured (one doesn't always know), and don't worry too much about big pieces of carrot causing colic; it is unusual for that to even be a factor. I don't ...
