What do you look for in a good Hunter / Jumper Horse?

I like when my horse WANTS to work. I hate riding friends horses who you have to push so hard to do anything. so Attitude is a must. :)

Do you listen to music while you ride? In the barn?

Sometimes when I'm just doing flatwork I'll put my ipod on. But when it comes to jumping or doing dressage routines I cant listen to music. I find when I do, it messes up my timing. Although when I...

Books you Grew Up With (Saddle Club, Thoroughbred, etc)

I LOVED Thoroughbred! I don't know if any of you remember Pine Hollow? It was the teenage version of Saddle Club. The only problem I had was that I couldn't get my hands on the very last book! I'm ...

One year ago today, I lost my best friend. He was the best horse I ever knew, and I miss his beautiful buckskin face. Together, we learned to ride, we learned to jump, we learned to show. He taught me so much, even as I taught him. We spent many m...

Profile Information

About Me:
Hi I'm Ainsley. I'm 22 years old and a PR student at the local college. I have been horseback riding since I was six and have owned the same horse since I was 7. Unfortunately I just had to put her down, which really sucked. Her name was P.J. and she was an Anglo Arab. We competed in cross country training level, and some Trillium circuit shows before she got sick.
As of right now I'm not riding as regularly as Id like. Hopefully I'll be getting a new horse soon!
Recently I just got asked by the Barnmice admin to help with some PR ideas! This is such a great opportunity for me! I'll be adding a bunch of new friends, creating discussions and allowing members to explore the site even more!

Hey, I saw your comment on the Equestrians In Ont. group, and the farm I work on offers part board, we are in King Township, two seconds from Bolton.
I don't know if you have found anything, or if this is too far for you, but I thought I would help.
:)

I have a friend that may have a part board available and she is moving her barn to Brampton. She is Tarwin Farm and EMG.

This is actually my 3rd (almost 4th) year with Guelph, I'm almost done my diploma thanks to doubling up on courses, this was actually the first year that I had the summer off since I started; because I had already taken the courses they were offering. Never did get into any big competitions with my boy, since I was often showing other people's horses at the end of the day I just wanted to enjoy my horse, he is well versed though and is now showing the lady that bought him the ropes.

I actually applied for the same Barnmice ad on horsejobs, so congrats! I am a little jealous :P

Well said, slic2! There are two sides to every issue (sometimes there are more), and we need to be aware of all of them. I agree that there are horses who benefit from being ridden for short periods behind the vertical, which, as you say, is RAD...
