discovered on the weekend that if you want to take photos of horses in an arena your better off using a tripod got way too much shake only a handful of 30 photos are actually recognisable

Hi all... I am a photography enthusiast, and like shooting just about everything. Usually once or twice a year, I will round up the dogs & do an 'on location' photo shoot.
Recently, with the addition of Merci to my family, I decided to try equing photography.
I shoot with a Canon DSLR Xti or 20D, depending on which one my husband borrows. =-)
I would like to offer a photo shoot @ my barn for people the first 2 weekends in October.
Does anyone have any advice on how to make this successful?
Thanks in advance! Tara

Hi everyone!
I am an amateur photographer as well, though I have been taking pix for a long, long time...almost exclusively horses over the years...I prefer the more candid shots and also realized recently that I would never want to be a main photographer for horse shows and such...man do they work hard!!

Mel, you said you are a photoshop nut...I keep trying, but so far I think I need to take a course to be able to figure everything out!! lol

I'll dive in here too! I've been involved in photography in various capacities for almost 40 years. Studied under artists such as Robert Moore, Jim Brandenburg & John Sexton; chose these over many others simply because of their views on nature, the environment & how to capture what we see for others.
I concentrate primarily on equine photography now, but do the odd wedding & such as well. I prefer candid shots over posed/planned shoots, I find a more "honest" result from this sort of imagery.

I am also an amateur. I use an old Canon (film, not digital) with a zoom. Takes great action shots! All the pictures on my sites are by me unless stated otherwise.
