I really enjoyed watching Chris Irwin's video at Stateline tack about in hand..... I practiced with my horses with great results.... That is where I'll be for a bit... it's fun.... Jen.

We had a big tack trade at our barn the other day and I came away with a Parelli rope halter and a 12' lead. I had a couple of coolers and saddle pads which turned out to be someone else's treasure and I got what I had been about to buy. Gail.

I completely believe in establishing levels of trust and respect on the ground. I've had my thorughbred/clyde cross for almost a month now and discover new levels of comfort we are both feeling from groundwork in the arena, grooming and hanging out together in his stall. I feel it SO important to get to know each other :)

Hi Cindy,
Wow! Thank you! I have to get back to blogging, as I have now found more direction with the help of a man called Paul Hunting, who wrote a book called Why Talk to a Guru when you can Whisper to a Horse? (His website is www.horsejoy.com). Thank you also for sharing more about yourself as well. My dream, simillar to yours will be to one day have a place where I can have horses poking their heads through the kitchen window! I think I have a long way to go before I can buy such a property tho...looking into grants at the moment!

The true horseperson must be true, honest and present themselves before they can build a true and honest relationship with their horse!

I think a horse needs the time with an owner when the owner is not just going up and throwing a saddle on them and expecting the horse to work. These days we are all more aware about good leadership and mutual respect and trust with the horse. This is best established on the ground I think. Gail.

love just spending time with my boy, brushing him, letting him graze, talking to him. Once the barn managers husband once said I was crazy that I spend so much time with him, even in the freezing cold, why don't I go home, because I would be out there for 6 or more hours.
She told him to leave me alone, that I love to spend time with him and we are bonding. I do not have to be riding, just love being there.
He knows me now and whinnys when I come to see him, it makes you feel so good to hear that.

I'm not sure how much you can use your legs and seat since you stated you have MS, but using your leg aids with the rein aids will give you better control of your horse than using your reins alone. People with MS are all so individual and unique i...
