Hello.

I have been considering offering up my services as a groom for our barn at the local shows this year. I can't braid so I'm talking more about getting the horses prepped for the ring and then making any necessary adjustments ring side. I'm still not 100% percent on this because I could use the extra money but I want to be able to relax and enjoy the show as well (after my classes are done). So my question is how much would you charge per day? I'm not a professional but my horse is one of the shiniest in the barn and I pay close attention to detail.

Thanks for your help.

How many hours do you think you would would spend with the person/horse? Can you learn to braid and offer the whole package? Would you muck out, feed, walk the horse after the class, etc.?

The way my trainer was talking I would just help groom and tack up before the owner went into the ring and be there for quick fixes ringside. It's our own duties to muck, feed and walk our horses. It's what keeps all of our bills down during the show so everyone does that stuff. But there are some people that just don't groom their horses or do it poorly and it reflects back on our barn. I think my trainer is starting to get fed up. I would love to learn to braid but I won't be able to learn by the first show which is April. Eventually, yes.
