Shirley, I also feel I can communicate with my new horse, Cloud, in the same way. Maybe I just pick horses who I am simpatico with, to share my life.

I had a friend on Barnmice do a reading of my new horse Cloud. She was right on!! She had done a reading of Maggie last year. She is amazing, but I don't know if she wants her name out there for readings, so I will respect that.

What a wonderful gift you have Lauren! Life would be so much better for horses if we could all read their thoughts and know what they are saying!

Marty, I am curious what you mean by communicate easily with your horse?
Different folks mean different things by this. Do you pick up on feelings and moods kinda thing or actually experience an exchange of specific thoughts?
Interested! My guy seems to really pick up on my feelings. If someone makes me uncomfortable, when they are near us, he will respond by pinning his ears back when in general he is a very sweet friendly guy.Sometimes I try to ignore if someone makes me tense but he tends to remind me and keep me aware of my instincts. But I can't really read his mind except what he gives me in his little signs of behavior if I watch and pay attention. Some people seem to be able to connect in that way.

Oh Marti, I can send you some wonderful examples of communication with animals. I have specific chapters in my book; On the Right Lead, dedicated to the readings I have done with dogs and horses that have turned them around.
If a horse is troubled and we cannot seem to move forward, and it is not sore, then we will ask it questions. The answers are astounding.

I have a bay Morgan mare, and we can communicate easily. Is this unusual? And when we put our foreheads together it is heaven. A real meeting of the minds, so to speak.

As this is a site that was created by Lauren, whom I have nothing but the greatest respect for (really would love to get her to read my other 2 kids soon) I would love to hear sometime what was the MOST interesting read she has ever done.....

I believe strongly in human/horse communication. I always feel as if my horse can understand me somehow. I think the bond between horse and rider is very important and I don't think I would enjoy riding as much if I wasn't able to spend a lot of time with my horse just taking care of him.

My very old pony colicked about 2 years ago. While he seemed to be just fine, I have always kept a close eye on him. Because of his age, I give him 'soup' for his meal and I do add oil. Every horse is different of course and while one may only col...

slc2 replied to Linda White's discussion 'Colic' in the group Over 50 crowd
Well, I feel that every colic is different. Ask your vet for suggestions as to why the colic occured (one doesn't always know), and don't worry too much about big pieces of carrot causing colic; it is unusual for that to even be a factor. I don't ...
