Once a week Bear gets a Cranberry Blueberry Bran muffin from Tim Hortons ... it's his absolute favourite!!!! Does your horse enjoy anything unusual for a treat? Dorothy :-)
Found out the other day something what my horse does not like ...
As a special treat for after his first ever show I got Bear a couple of his favourite muffins ... the aforementioned Cranberry Blueberry Bran ones from Tim Hortons. At least that's what I thought I had. When I opened the bag at the barn I discovered Blueberry Oatmeal instead. Not good. I gave some to Bear in the hope that he'd be open to trying something new and within moments of him taking it from my hand he spat it out onto the floor, totally disgusted. Needless to say I made sure I made up for it the next day. Fortunately for me he's very forgiving. ;-)
LMAO, I can see his face McD! He must have been totally pissed off after you told him so many times at the show that he was getting his 'special muffin' when he got back to the barn! What trickery is this he doth proclaimed? I hope you at least fed the offending piece to Rob or Mac, they don't care what kind of muffin THEY get! They'll eat anything!
Ben likes bananas - especially the skins. I discovered this one day when I had eaten a banana and left the skin on the side in the stable and he sneaked up behind me and pinched it!
My old mare Misty used to like bread but I think this is fairly common. She once ate a ham sandwich but she spat out the ham thank goodness! She liked Guinness too.
Like the idea of blueberry muffins, might try Ben with those!
My horse is pretty normal but my mom's horse used to drink beer out of a bottle and a girlfriend's horse LOVED pfeffernusse (a ginger cookie covered in crunchy icing sugar) a festive german cookie!
This discussion has certainly given me a few chuckles. My girl loves getting treats and likes most of the regulars, apples, carrots, peppermints and just about any commercial treats. She only likes blueberry bran muffins and will spit out all the others.
In the summer after a trail ride we turn the horses loose in the arena to roll while we enjoy a refreshment of our own. Belle will mug for sips of Smirnoff Ice vodka coolers (she likes beer too but not as much) Her buddy Willie won't touch the drinks, but loves to eat the ice cubes out of the cooler bag. No boozing for her this summer though as she's going to be a momma.
My horse Rey eats bananas, skin and all. He also LOVES vanilla wafers. He attempted to eat someone's cheeseburger once but I wouldn't let him. He eats cheese (I wanted to see) My first pony ate french fries with ketchup. My second pony (and the whole barn, but she started it), will do ANYTHING for a Pop-tart. And my welsh/arab cross knows how to drink from a beer glass. It took him a while, but now he knows just what angle to suck the water from.
I'm going to risk a pie in the face and say I love winter. It's 24 degrees today, the sky is clear, and I think it's going to really drop tonight. The only thing I need tonight is a comet, LOL, and it will be perfect!
I think sometimes that I get EVERYONE mad, LOL. I try to see both sides. I can get the 'pro's' AND the 'anti's' both mad at me, right with the same post, LOL!
But I am trying to see both sides, and think about both. I have a different way of lookin…

People often ask me how many times I see a movie before reviewing it, and with rare exceptions the answer is "Just once." But a week and a half after I saw Sherlock Holmes, I found that the film had all but disappeared f…
